Painter, sculptor and kinetic artist, and writer, born in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. He studied at Goldsmiths’ College School of Art, 1961–6, from the mid-1960s showing with Young Contemporaries and LG, then studied sculpture at St Martin’s School of Art, 1966–7. Martin continued to exhibit widely in mixed shows, later ones including Échec et Mat, Beaux-Arts Galerie, Brussels, Belgium, 1992, and Porcupines, 291 Gallery, 1999. In 1968 Martin had a solo show, Pavilions in the Parks, in Chelsea, the following year sharing a show at Compass Gallery, Glasgow. Further exhibitions included a one-man at Serpentine Gallery in 1970; at Studio International Gallery and Newcastle Polytechnic Gallery, in 1977; at Goya Gallery, Zaragosa, and in Barcelona, Spain, in 1980; Look – Reflections on Structure and Meaning, Mind Sports Olympiad, Olympia, 1999; Riverside Studios, 2000; and Drawing Galllery, 2004.
