Printmaker and teacher, born in London, who studied at Salisbury School of Art and etching under Merlyn Evans at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, 1952–6. She showed with Robert Erskine’s St George’s Gallery in The Graven Image on three occasions between 1959–63 and was a member of the Printmakers’ Council of Great Britain and the Senefelder Group. During the 1950s and 1960s Markson had many etchings of London and Liverpool, and several of public schools, published by Editions Alecto, notably of buildings since destroyed. Some were shown in Doris Seidler Helena Markson at The Print Centre, 1964. The Government Art Collection, Leeds City Art Gallery and Israel Museum in Jerusalem are among public holdings of Markson’s work. Having established printmaking studios at Byam Shaw School, 1965–70, Markson moved to Israel, where she continued to work and taught.
