Sculptor and teacher, notable for his expressive portraits, who was born in Edinburgh and who studied at Loughborough College of Art and Goldsmiths’ College. He moved to Caithness to teach art at Thurso High School. His work has been exhibited at venues across the UK and Ireland including the RSA; Commonwealth Institute; Swanson Gallery, Thurso, Inverness Museum & Art Gallery, Scottish National Portrait Gallery and Brown’s Fine Art, Tain, Ross-shire, where he lived. Commissions include the Neil Gunn Memorial, at Dunbeath and the NGS portrait of Tom Leonard. The Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh, holds Main’s work.
