Painter, teacher and writer, born in Randalstown, Northern Ireland, married to the artist Max Maccabe. She was educated at Brookvale Collegiate School, Belfast, then at the College of Art there, 1934–8. She was a member of the Watercolour Society of Ireland, ROI and was a president of the Ulster Society of Women Artists. Also exhibited at RUA, RSA and widely abroad. The American statesman Adlai Stevenson, the Irish actor Cyril Cusack and the actress Beatrice Lillie owned Maccabe’s work, which is also held by the Imperial War Museum, Ulster Museum in Belfast and Arts Council of Northern Ireland. For a time she taught at Glens of Antrim School of Art and for Carnegie United Kingdom Trust. Had a solo show at The Bruton Street Gallery, 1995.
