Painter and teacher who studied at Heatherley’s School of Fine Art under Iain Macnab, 1946–50, and at Académie Julian and L’Académie de la Grande Chaumière, both in Paris, gaining a history of art certificate from the Courtauld Institute. She went on to teach at Moor Park College, 1968–82, and at adult education classes. Lofthouse was a member of NS, UA and Ridley Art Society. Showed also at RBA, ROI, at Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and elsewhere and had many solo exhibitions. Surrey University holds her work. Lived in Farnham, Surrey.
