Etcher, wood engraver and painter, noted for his stylish line and sense of design. Born at Egham, Surrey, Janes studied at the Slade School, Central School of Arts and Crafts and Royal College of Art. Exhibited at RA, RWS, NEAC, SWE, RSMA, in the provinces and widely abroad. Two one-man shows at the Beaux Arts Gallery. Married the artist Barbara Greg. His work is extensively held in public collections including the British Museum, British Council, London Museum, in the provinces and in New Zealand and the USA. Lived in London.
