Painter, draughtsman and teacher whose work used simple geometrical shapes and serpentine forms. He was born in London and studied at Harrow School of Art, 1953–6, and Royal Academy Schools, 1956–60. From 1959 Huxley showed several times with Young Contemporaries, then in 1963 had the first of his one-man shows at Rowan Gallery where with Mayor Rowan Gallery and Juda Rowan Gallery he was a frequent exhibitor. Huxley was a prizewinner at The New Generation Whitechapel Art Gallery show in 1964; at Paris Biennale, 1965; won Linbury Trust Award, 1977; and in 1985 first prize, Athena Award. In 1965 Huxley gained a Harkness Fellowship which took him to America, where he lived in New York until 1967. Among his overseas shows were one-mans at Kornblee Gallery, New York, in 1967 and 1970.
