Painter noted for Expressionist landscapes, born in Manchester, who studied fine art at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. She worked in London and Paris, in 1980 returning to the northwest of England, settling in Glossop, Derbyshire. Wrote for The Artist magazine on her work and methods. Showed widely in England, including Images of the Yorkshire Landscape, organised by Sheeran Lock at Leeds Civic Hall, 1991. Later shows included The Cynthia Corbett Gallery, from 2000. Howard was artist-in-residence at the BBC, 2000–1. Manchester’s City and Whitworth Art Galleries and Graves Art Gallery, Sheffield, acquired her work.
