Painter, printmaker and artist in black-and-white. Born in Edinburgh, he studied at the College of Art there, 1908–13, in his final year going on to the British School in Rome. For many years taught at his old College and became president of the SSA. Married to the artist Margaret Hislop; the artist Vivien Hislop was their daughter. Exhibited RSA, SSA and Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. Lived in Edinburgh where he was a member of the Arts Club.
