Artist notable for landscapes “not concerned with topographical detail, but with light, mood, dreams and memories inspired by the places”. He was born in Oundle, Northamptonshire, and settled nearby at King’s Cliffe. Studied at Norwich School of Art, 1970, then Byam Shaw School of Painting and Drawing, 1971–3. Exhibitions included The Museum, Ashton, 1979; The Annexe Gallery, Wimbledon (Group Show), 1980; Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery, 1984; Stamford Arts Centre, 1985; Art ’87, at Peterborough’s Lady Lodge Arts Centre (Group Show), 1987; and Green Man Exhibition, Yarrow Gallery, Oundle (Group Show), 1995. Dolby Gallery, Oundle, where Heesom showed frequently, gave him a solo exhibition in 2005, displaying his fluid drawing style and vibrant colour.
