Painter and printmaker, born and lived in London, who in mid-1950s attended Willesden School of Art and Royal College of Art. For a time he was involved in the running of the art and design department of London University’s Institute of Education. Harris was a member of the LG, his work being commemorated in its ninetieth anniversary commemorative volume in 2003. By that time he had shown in numerous mixed exhibitions and had had 15 solo shows, 57 works having been acquired by public and corporate bodies, including Tate Gallery and Ben Uri Museum, Tel-Aviv Museum in Israel and the Ministry of Culture in Sweden. Harris’s largest ongoing series was based on kite flying, of which he said: “Each work should be read in time, rather than perceived instantly.
