Painter of landscapes and figure studies, Sir Cuthbert Grundy was educated at Victoria University, New South Wales, Australia. He is most remembered with his brother J R G Grundy as the donor of the Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool. Cuthbert Grundy, author of works on chemistry and plant life, showed at leading London galleries. He was from 1913–33 president of RCamA and held senior positions in RWA, RBC and SWAS. He was represented in the centenary show of RCamA in 1982. Was knighted in 1919 and died in Blackpool.
