Painter and teacher who, using a rich palette, specialised in painting aspects of the theatre and performers, and theatrical moments in daily life. Attended life classes at Chelsea School of Art, 1978, while serving in the Coldstream Guards, 1977–83. After working for the advertising agency J Walter Thompson, 1983–4, ran a company dealing in contemporary art, 1984–9, then became a full-time painter, having attended Heatherley’s School of Art open studio in 1988–9. Mixed shows included Chelsea Art Society from 1975; Armed Forces Art Society from 1980; Young British Artists, Alpine Gallery, 1986–7; ROI from 1991; and Brian Sinfield Gallery, Burford, 1994. Solo shows included Tryon & Swann Gallery, 1995, David Messum, from 1997, and The Wally Findlay Gallery, New York, 2006.
