Painter and muralist, textile designer, illustrator and teacher, born in Farnborough, Hampshire, of Scottish parents. He trained as a commercial artist at Edinburgh College of Art, 1949–53, then did a postgraduate course at Central School of Arts and Crafts, 1954. He was then a freelance illustrator and art editor for several magazines before returning to Edinburgh College of Art where for 25 years until 1988 he was in charge of graphic design, retiring early to paint. Textile designs were created for Liberty; he illustrated books, newspapers and magazines, ranging from The Times to Lilliput; and created a huge mural for 200 Summers in the City. In addition to mixed shows More Gordon had solo exhibitions including Richard Demarco Gallery and the Scottish and Henderson Galleries, all in Edinburgh, near where he lived at Inveresk.
