Painter, especially of marine subjects, born at Stanwix, near Carlisle. Studied in Hampshire and under the painter Tom Mostyn, after a period in business. Exhibited RA, RSA, especially at RBA, also Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, RHA and Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. He was a member of both the Liverpool and Manchester Academies, public art galleries in those cities buying his work. Lived at Sunderland Point, near Lancaster.
