Painter, architect and teacher, born in London. He gained his master’s degree from Cambridge University, studying architecture at University College, London. Giffard gained the RIBA Schools Drawing Prize, 1932, and was a Rome Finalist, architecture, 1939. Studied at Bath Academy of Art, 1948–51, teachers including William Scott and Peter Potworowski, teaching at the Academy, 1951–68. Giffard was a member of RWA, also showing with RA, LG and abroad. Solo exhibitions included several in Bath and at Woodstock Gallery between 1958–69. RWA holds his work and he completed murals for educational authorities in Lancashire and Hertfordshire. Lived in Freshford, Bath.
