Wildlife, landscape and seascape artist, mainly in watercolour, but also pastel and oils and prints. He was born in and lived in Warrington area of Cheshire. After several years in industry and Royal Air Force, from 1955–83 was an engineering draughtsman, then becoming a self-employed artist. Gee was mainly self-taught, but had one year full-time in fine art, 1983–4, at St Helens College of Art and Design. Peter Scott, the Impressionists and early English watercolourists were among influences. He was a “romantic painter, looking for atmospheric conditions, also strong lighting and chiaroscuro”. Gee was elected to SWLA in 1969 and became an associate of BWS in 1988. Group shows included Mall Galleries, East African Wildlife Society, Mini-Print International at Barcelona, in Spain, where he was a purchase prize winner, and the provinces.
