Landscape and figure painter in oil and watercolour, born in Dorking, Surrey. He studied at Camberwell School of Art, 1956–61; Slade School of Fine Art, 1961–4; and Berlin Academy, 1964; teachers included Sir William Coldstream, Claude Rogers and Frank Auerbach. Solo shows included Ibis, Langton, Piers Feetham and Meldrum Walker Galleries. University College and Berlin Academy of Fine Arts hold examples. For many years Gaisford kept handsome, Moroccan leather-bound diaries which chronicled his life and preoccupations such as his horse Rosie and gypsy caravan. Lived at Great Rissington, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
