Landscape painter, born at Scone, Perthshire, who attended Perth Academy, then studied at Royal Scottish Academy Schools, winning the Keith Prize, then in Paris. Elected RSA in 1924. Exhibited there and prolifically at Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, and at RA, RBA, RHA and ROI. Closely involved with Scottish Arts Club, of which he was for a time president. Lived in Edinburgh.
