
Florence Harriet Fitzgerald [commonly known as Florence Fitzgerald; also known as Florence Bishop] was born in in Brompton, Middlesex [now London], England in 1857 and was the daughter of the painter John Anster Fitzgerald (1819-1906). She studied at the British Museum and the Royal Academy Schools in London and subsequently worked as a painter and sculptor. She exhibited at the Royal Academy, London Salon, Royal Society of British Artists and Royal Institute of Oil Painters in London; the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool; Royal Birmingham Society of Artists; Royal Scottish Academy; and at the Royal Cambrian Academy in Conwy, Wales. She married the painter Walter Follen Bishop (1856-1936) in 1889.
She lived throughout her life in London and died in Middlesex on 17 January 1927.
