Painter and teacher, born in Abercarn, Monmouthshire. He studied at Newport College of Art, 1959–62, then at Royal College of Art, 1962–5; in 1965 he won the College’s Silver Medal for Painting. Travelled in Spain and Morocco before becoming a lecturer at Edinburgh College of Art, being based in the city. Evans was Granada Arts Fellow at University of York, 1968–9, and travelled through America in 1975–6. He was a member of RSW and was elected RSA in 1989. Evans was noted for his Hyper-Realist interiors which often have a tinge of suspense or mystery about them. He had a one-man show at New 57 Gallery in Edinburgh in 1966, others following at Marjorie Parr and Gilbert Parr in London. Lived in Edinburgh.
