Painter, muralist, draughtsman, printmaker and teacher, born in Tideswell, Derbyshire. He studied at Derby and Brighton Colleges of Art, 1952–7. After lecturing at Brighton and Wolverhampton Colleges of Art and winning an Italian Government Travelling Scholarship, 1969, in 1983 Elliott emigrated to Australia, establishing a studio in Brisbane. Travelled and worked in Australia, Britain, America, Bali, on the continent and in Cyprus. Exhibited widely in solo and group shows in England and Australia. There his main works included pictures for Jupiter’s Casino, Ramada, and Sea World, Nara, on the Gold Coast; Daydream Island Hotel in the Whitsundays and Kooralbyn Valley Heart Resort in the Gold Coast hinterland. Completed large murals for Dockside Restaurant, Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, and Kooralbyn Valley Conference Centre, a triptych for Albert Park Motor Inn, four big still lifes for the Brisbane Hilton, two large landscapes for Brisbane City Travelodge and large works for the members’ stand at Rosehill Racecourse, Sydney.
