Painter, sculptor, printmaker and teacher, born in London. He studied, 1971–4, at Harrow School of Art and Central School of Art and Design, his teachers including Adrian Berg, John Hoyland and Paul Huxley. In 1973 Edwards was the first president of New Contemporaries, was an assistant to both Hoyland and Berg and began a working relationship with Waddington Galleries interspersed with teaching. In late 1970s travelled extensively through Europe and America. The early 1980s saw Edwards working as the sculptor Barry Flanagan’s assistant, also with Allen Jones and Ivor Abrahams. Edwards had his first solo show with Odette Gilbert Gallery in 1985, several more following. In 1991, Edwards began work on major outdoor sculptures privately commissioned and had his first solo show with Mayor Gallery, having had his first solo exhibition in America, at Carone Gallery, Florida, in 1990.
