Artist and teacher who was born and lived in Glasgow, as an adult graduating from the School of Art there, 1976–80, under David Donaldson, Barbara Rae, Duncan Shanks and Sandy Moffat. For a while she taught art in London and Glasgow, but from 1990 painted full-time. Edgar won or was shortlisted for several awards. She was a member of the RGI, a professional member of the SWA and SSA. Group exhibitions included Painting in Scotland, Glasgow Print Studio; Art Expo, New York; RSW; RSA; Vigorous Scots, Los Angeles; Cheltenham Drawing Open; and CCA, Glasgow. She had many solo exhibitions, including Schomburg Gallery, Los Angeles; Compass Gallery, Glasgow; Bohun Gallery, Henley-on-Thames; and 369 Gallery, Edinburgh. Edgar claimed to be “equally at home with large vibrant abstract paintings or lyrical colourful landscapes”; London and St Ives Schools and the Expressionists were cited as influences.
