Painter and sculptor in various media, born in London, where she eventually settled to work part of the year, also in Portugal. She was also a teacher, including St Albans, Camberwell and Byam Shaw Schools of Art; Bath Academy of Art in Corsham; and at the American School of Tangier, Morocco, where she lived from 1966, moving to Portugal in 1973, returning to Britain in 1982. Dower said that her style moved from that of the Euston Road School to Constructivism. She attended St Martin’s School of Art, 1948–9; Camberwell School of Art, 1949–52; and Slade School of Fine Art, 1952–4. Group shows included Fox Fine Art, 1977; Hayward Annual, 1982; Systematic Constructive Drawings at Wentworth Gallery, University of York, 1986; Chicago International Art Exposition from 1988; and First International Female Artists’ Art Biennial, Stockholm, 1995.
