Painter, artist in variety of graphic and photographic media, and teacher, born in Liverpool. He attended West Sussex College of Art, 1950–5, then Royal College of Art, 1957–60, becoming a tutor at Royal College in 1977. In the early 1970s Dougill, a committed teacher, gravitated to the organisation of students in photographic, film and poster work, becoming interested in community and environmental affairs. Participated in RA exhibition Thirty London Painters in 1985; was included in Royal College of Art’s show Exhibition Road in 1988; and was Artist of the Day at Flowers East, 1999, chosen by Norman Ackroyd. Later solo shows included Winchester Gallery, 1998, and studio 1.1 in 2004. Lived in London.
