Painter, draughtsman and printmaker, born and based in Manchester, who studied at Rochdale College, Oldham College and as a postgraduate at the Slade School of Fine Art. His awards included The Lyceum Prize and The Sidney Andrews Scholarship. Demsteader’s work developed from a fascination with the human form and an obsession with classical themes. Texture and compositional balance were important. Demsteader was a frequent exhibitor, his exhibitions in 2002 including Blackheath Gallery; Karen Taylor Contemporary Art, Twickenham; Grey McGear Modern Inc, Santa Monica, California, America; Affordable Art Fair, Battersea; Chelsea Art Fair, Mosaic Gallery, Buxton; The Art Store, Dublin; and Tallentyre Gallery, Morpeth. Later solo shows included Panter & Hall, 2004.
