Atmospheric painter and draughtsman, born in Hexham, Northumberland, who graduated with honours from Edinburgh College of Art, 1992-6, gaining her master’s in painting there, 1996–8. Awards included Scottish Gallery Prize for Drawing, Eastern General Hospital, 1996; Highly Commended, D M Hall Centenary Exhibtion, and Andrew Grant Bequest Prize for Drawing, both 1997; and Scottish International Educational Trust Award, 1998. Was a prolific mixed-show exhibitor throughout Britain, solo exhibitions including Scottish Gallery, 2001. The urban landscape of Edinburgh was important in Dees’ work. Chartered Surveyors of Scotland, Eastern General and Princess Margaret Rose Hospitals, Caledonian Hotel and several corporate collections hold examples.
