Artist who employed film and installation, studied at Slade School of Fine Art, 1990–2. Among her awards were BT New Contemporaries Award Winner, 1992; Arts Council of Great Britain Film and Video Award and Barclays Young Artist Award, runner-up, both 1993; London Arts Board, 1994; and FRAC Award in Bourges, France, 1995. Group shows included Six Slade Students, Rijksakademie, Amsterdam, 1992; Peripheral States at Benjamin Rhodes Gallery, 1993; Dew of Gold, Frith Street Gallery, 1995; and British Art Show 4, with tour, 1995–6. Her Foley Artists solo show was at the Tate Gallery, 1996, and Recent films and other works at Tate Britain in 2001. In 2003, Dean had an exhibition at Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, France. This comprised two new works, Boots and Pie, shown with earlier creations.
