Artist and teacher working in a range of styles and media, born in Ancona, Italy, who settled in London. He was first attracted to the city in 1986, but after seven months, and hating it, he went to New York, in America, and Brussels, Belgium, before returning to London in the early 1990s to study. From 1990–1 he did a Lina Garnade Foundation Course, then graduated in fine art from Central St Martins. After various subsistence jobs, such as market research and translation, he stopped working in sculpture and began cutting out photographs from fashion magazines as a start for paintings. Having built up a coherent body of work, showing in smaller, offbeat galleries, he was spotted by the collector Charles Saatchi, among others, who acquired examples.
