
Matthew Dalziel (b.1957) and Louise Scullion (b.1966)

Artist using sculpture, photography and installations, born in Irvine, Ayrshire, who as well as showing individually worked jointly with Louise Scullion as Dalziel & Scullion. He gained an honours degree in fine art (sculpture) from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, 1981–5, winning the Dalgetty Dunn Scholarship. Won a higher national diploma in documentary photography from Gwent College of Higher Education, 1985–7, then was awarded a postgraduate diploma in sculpture and fine art photography from Glasgow School of Art, 1987–8. He was artist-in-residence for Shell UK Exploration and Production at the St Fergus gas plant, 1988–9; won a Scottish Arts Council Major Bursary, moving to St Combs, 1990–1; gained a short artist’s residency at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, 1992; then in 1994–5 was artist-in-residence for Banff & Buchan District.
