Painter, draughtsman and teacher, notably in pastel, born in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. His father was the painter William Daly, principal of Kidderminster School of Art, which Jehan attended. Studied at Royal College of Art, 1937–9, where he met his lifelong friend John Ward, returning there after World War II Army service, he and Ward sharing accommodation and a studio in Fulham, 1946–50. Taught at Wimbledon and St Martin’s Schools of Art and exhibited RA, NEAC, Agnew and in Canterbury area, where he latterly lived a simple, reclusive life. Was reluctant to exhibit, although his drawings were prized by other artists. Daly had solo shows at Martyn Gregory, 1993 and 1997, and in 1994 shared an exhibition at Hazlitt, Gooden & Fox with John Sergeant and John Ward.
