Painter, sculptor and teacher who studied at Sutton and Wimbledon Schools of Art and Royal College of Art. He taught at Hammersmith, Sutton and Croydon Schools of Art and part-time posts included Ravensbourne, Chelsea, Hastings, City & Guilds of London and Royal Academy Schools. Cummins was noted for his industrial scenes. Among awards won were Henry Moore Prize (LG), 1982; First Prize, Hunting Group, 1990 and 1999; and Blackstone Award, 1992. Showed annually at RA Summer Exhibition from 1982, in 1992 being elected RA; Rye Society of Artists, Rye, from 1983; and New Grafton Gallery from 1991, having a solo show there in 1993. At the 2005 RA Summer Exhibition Cummins revealed a new twist to his career when he won The Jack Goldhill Award for Sculpture, worth £10,000, with his piece Off The Wall.
