London-based artist who studied at Bath Academy of Art and the Royal College of Art and who won the Saatchi Fellowship, 2001–2. The most notable motif in his work, featured in the A4 Art Auction at Bonhams in 2004, was a solitary arm that appeared alone or buried among abstract shapes. Cumberland’s work was included in Dirty Pictures, The Approach, 2003, and Works on Paper, at Sprüth Magers Lee, Munich, Germany, 2004. In 2003 he had a solo show at the Kate MacGarry Gallery.
