Painter and writer who was for about 20 years from 1925 a professional diplomat. Was born in Winchester, Hampshire, and obtained his Master of Arts degree from Oxford University. He published An Artist Among Mountains, illustrated books for children and showed widely abroad as well as at RA, RI, UA and in the provinces. Lived in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
