Painter, designer and teacher, born in Halifax, where she studied initially at the School of Art, 1929–35. Then studied at Leeds College of Art, her teachers including John Frederic Greenwood, and Bradford Regional College of Art under Reginald Aird, where she specialised in textile design, 1938–41. She held a number of teaching positions including Tiverton School of Art and Poole College for Further Education. Exhibited at public galleries in Leeds, Manchester, Wakefield and elsewhere. Lived in Halifax and latterly in Parkstone, Dorset.
