Painter, draughtsman and teacher, born in India, who studied at Slade School of Fine Art, 1973–7, where her teachers included William Coldstream, Lawrence Gowing and Jeffery Camp. On leaving the Slade Chuhan’s work was Expressionistic; then experimented with various ways of working, including semi-abstracts based on nature, which later incorporated figures from Indian classical dance; and in mid-1990s was painting series of self-portraits. In 1992, Chuhan was granted a Fellowship in Sculpture, funded by The Henry Moore Foundation, established at Liverpool John Moores University, where she was a part-time lecturer, visiting lectureships including Royal College of Art. Mixed exhibitions included In the Looking Glass, Usher Gallery, Lincoln, and tour, from 1996.
