Painter and teacher, born in Leicester. After studying at University of Leeds, 1972–6, he was at Birmingham Polytechnic, 1977–8. He taught there and elsewhere in the West Midlands and was commissioned by Birmingham City Council. Chorlton’s group shows included Facade: The City’s Face, at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, with tour, 1987–8; Unfinished Business, Lanchester Gallery, Coventry Polytechnic, 1990; and the 1991–2 John Moores Exhibition, Liverpool. The urban landscape and experience were features of his work, as in the John Moores picture Apartment. Showed solo at Wolverhampton Art Gallery, 1983, and Midlands Arts Centre, 1989. Lived in Stirchley, Birmingham.
