Artist in mixed media and teacher, born in West Sussex. She attended West Sussex College of Art, 1961–3, and Chelsea College of Art, 1963–6. After working in London, 1966–78, she moved to the northeast of England and settled in Tynemouth, teaching part-time at Cleveland College of Art. She gained Northern Arts Awards in 1980–1, a Charlotte Press Printmaking Bursary in 1981 and a Northern Arts Purchase Award, 1982. Chevallier’s work was abstract, sometimes using repeated notations. She took part in many group shows: RA and LG from 1966; Whitechapel Art Gallery from 1968; Art and the Sea, at Ceolfrith Gallery, Sunderland, 1981; Engelsk Grafikk Gallery F15, Moss, Norway, 1982; and Six Artists from the Coast, Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle and Scandinavian tour, 1983.
