Painter and draughtsman who sometimes used collage to create his pictures. He studied at Norwich School of Art, 1981–4, and the Royal Academy Schools, 1984–7. Among Checketts’ widespread exhibitions were BP Portrait Award, National Portrait Gallery, 1990; Spectator Art Competition, first prize winner, 1994; and Eastern Open, King’s Lynn, first prize winner, 1997. He participated in Making the Connection, firstsite, Colchester/Wolsey Art Gallery, Ipswich, 2002, having had a one-man exhibition at The Room Upstairs, Wolsey Art Gallery, in 1998. Paintings 1994–2004 was a solo show at The Warehouse, Lowestoft, in 2004. Manchester City Art Gallery, University of East Anglia Library and Adam and Company, Edinburgh, held examples.
