Painter noted for meticulous pictures of transport and machinery subjects, sometimes in rural and period settings. He was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, and left school in 1961 to work as a layout artist for the local evening newspaper. Studied at Blackburn Art College, 1963–4, then in 1965–8 worked as a technical illustrator for a local engineering company. Chapman was a member of Blackburn Artists’ Society and showed at the local public gallery as well as RA Summer Exhibition, W H Patterson, Warrington Art Gallery and elsewhere. A number of signed limited-edition prints were produced of his scenes. Blackburn Art Gallery holds his work. Lived in Bolton, Lancashire.
