Designer for industry in many materials, but also showed paintings and sculpture. Born at Burslem, Staffordshire, he studied art at the Royal College of Art, 1919–22, and widely on the continent. He held several positions at the Royal College for 30 years from 1924 and was chief examiner in industrial design for the Board of Education, 1937–40. Exhibited RA and widely overseas. Lived at Alfriston, Sussex.
