Sculptor in various materials, born in London. He studied at Wimbledon School of Art, 1948–52, then Slade School of Fine Art, 1953. Browne was made a fellow of RBS and became president of SPS, being noted for his portraits. These included the ballerina Dame Alicia Markova, in 1992 taken into National Portrait Gallery collection. Work by Browne is in Guildford Cathedral, City of London University and Crawley New Town. Lived in Old Heathfield, Sussex.
