William Kellock Brown [also known as Kellock Brown] was born in Glasgow, Scotland in on 15 December 1856 and studied at Glasgow School of Art in the late 1860s, and under Edward (Edouard) Lanteri at the Royal Academy Schools in London. He subsequently worked primarily as a sculptor and art metalworker. He also taught at Glasgow School of Art. A lock plate in beaten silver by Brown was shown at the Glasgow International Exhibition in 1901. He was a member of the Arts & Crafts Exhibition Society and participated in their exhibitions at the New Gallery in London in 1888, 1890, 1893 and 1899. He also exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh; the Royal Academy in London; the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts; and at Aberdeen Artists' Society.
Brown'a address was given as 138 Wellington Street, Glasgow in 1890 and 1899; and 152 Renfrew Street, Glasgow in 1901 and 1934. He died in Glasgow on 20 February 1934.
