Painter of atmospheric landscapes, beach scenes and seascapes, sometimes with figures, born in Surrey. Although while at school he won three prizes, including a 1st in 1986, in the Johnson Wax Art Competition, Brown was denied a place at Farnham College of Art as he “didn’t have the right attitude to become a painter”. Read economics at Cardiff University, 1986–9, continued to paint while working in the City and had a solo show at St Mary-le-Bow church, 1992. Worked to commission in France, America and Italy and travelled extensively in Venice, Ireland and Istanbul, took part in many mixed exhibitions and had solo shows including Air Gallery, 1999, and Gallery 47, 2001, inspired by trips to Barbados and Greece. Corporate collections hold his work.
