Painter, artist in construction and collage, born in Dundee, Angus, raised in Kingussie, Inverness-shire, who attended Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, 1982–7. After periods in Glasgow and Düsseldorf, Germany, from 1995 settled in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire. Brown gained a RSA John Kinross Scholarship, 1987, and a Pollock-Krasner Award, 1996. He took part in numerous group exhibitions, including Diadem Centenary, Perth (second prize), 1984; RSA and Compass Gallery, Glasgow, from 1986; Fine Art Society, Glasgow, from 1991; Open Eye Gallery, Edinburgh, 1995; and Roger Billcliffe Gallery, Glasgow, 1997. Had a solo show at Barbizon Gallery, Glasgow, 1989, later ones including Peacock Gallery, Aberdeen, 1997, with frequent solo exhibitions in Germany.
