Sculptor, painter, printmaker and teacher. Studied at Birmingham College of Art, 1923–33, the staff of which he later joined. Exhibited RA, NEAC, RBA, RSA and RBSA. Bridgwater was made an associate of that body in 1935, an associate of RBS in 1948 and a full member in 1949, also being a council member. Birmingham City Museum and Art Gallery holds his work and he also completed a war memorial for Kings Norton Grammar School. Bridgwater also had strong links with Dudley, teaching at its School of Art, 1948–54. With Charles Upton he formed the sculpture partnership Bridgwater and Upton, and their work included novel sculptural decoration for Dudley police headquarters. Lived in Edgbaston.
