Painter, printmaker and teacher, born in Oxford. He studied, 1970–1, at Hertfordshire College of Art and Design, then from 1971–5 at Brighton Polytechnic. In 1977 he gained Eastern Arts Awards. Brewster went on to teach for a time at East Herts College, being a visiting lecturer at Winchester School of Art. As well as participating in many group shows, Brewster showed solo frequently. These included Harlow Playhouse Gallery, Essex, 1982; Bury St Edmunds Art Gallery, 1984; Warwick Arts Trust, 1986; and The Winchester Gallery, Winchester, and tour, 1986; and Jill George Gallery, 1994. Using a mainly bright palette, Brewster’s work hovered on the edge of figuration and abstraction. Brighton Polytechnic, The Open University and Winchester School of Art own his work.
