Jason Richard Bowyer (1957–2019)

Painter and teacher, born London, son of the artist William Bowyer. Jason Bowyer attended Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, 1975–9, and Royal Academy Schools, 1979–82. Among his many awards were the British Institution Award in 1982; Elizabeth Greenshields Award in 1983; British Council Visit Award to Bulgaria in 1990; and three awards at NEAC Open in 1999. Bowyer was artist to Fulham Football Club, 1985–6. His mixed shows included RA, NEAC and Christie’s Post-Graduate Exhibition, 1982. Had a solo show at Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith, with a series at New Grafton Gallery from 1991. He was a part-time lecturer at Sir John Cass College, ran the NEAC school of drawing and offered short courses from his studio, in the Kew Bridge Steam Museum.
