John Houghton Maurice Bonnor [also known as J.H.M. Bonnor; and as John Houghton Maurice Bonnor-Moris] was born in Ashchurch, Gloucestershire, England in 1876. Whilst working in the architectural department of the London City Council, he attended classes at Central School of Arts and Crafts in London. He subsequently worked as a jewellery designer, stained glass designer, art metalworker and painter. He opened his own workshop in London in 1908. He taught at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts in London from 1910 to 1915 and was employed by the Artificer's Guild in London. Bonnor collaborated with Edward Spencer (1872-1938) and Henry Wilson (1864-1934) in the design of a number of pieces. He participated in the 7th (1903), 8th (1906), 9th (1910) and 11th (1916) exhibitions of the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society in London.
